Indeed, the anime is different from the manga. We’re going to explore these differences, by telling what we like and dislike about each.
Anime
Well, the first thing that can be noticed about the anime is they way its drawn and actually animated. Compared to a lot of other series out there, Inuyasha’s animation is excellent. And it only gets better as time goes on! And the coloring is so bright and vivid, it brings the images to life, even if the animation isn’t so hot that episode.
The music in the anime is also superb. Which of course ties into the spiffy opening theme songs. All of them are awesome. Speaking of sound, we also like the voice acting. All the voices are chosen very well, and do an excellent job of portraying their personality. Then there’s the actual writing of the anime. Well, it doesn’t exactly follow the manga quite right, so there are a lot of filler episodes. This is both a good and bad thing. Some of the filler episodes are really cute, and show new situations for the characters.
Now to go into what we don’t like about the anime. The biggest thing that bugs us is the fact that they don’t really follow the manga. They condense the storylines way too much. In the manga, everything is timed out, and has great suspense. But in the anime, something that took up about 6 issues in the manga takes only one episode. You just can’t get the same feel for the characters. Along those lines, we do not like the way Kagome is portrayed in the anime. It irritates us to no end. She always acts helpless, and obsessive over Inuyasha. Everything she ever does is for him. She has no other thoughts enter her head, besides clinging to him, and being upset about Kikyou. And if Inuyasha’s not around, she can’t do a thing. Well, that’s not the true Kagome. I’ll contrast this a little later, in the manga section. It just doesn’t make sense that she would have instantly fallen in love with Inuyasha, and act crippled if he’s not around. Another character they do no justice for is Kikyou.
In the anime, she is portrayed as totally evil. Hence, a lot of people hate her. Why? She’s really not a bad character, and she has every right to act the way she does. How would YOU act if you were her? Seriously, the anime always shows her as a creepy evil woman who only cares about killing Inuyasha. Well, she’s really quite sad, and should get the respect she deserves. Another big thing about the anime is that it doesn’t really follow the manga well.
The manga came first… the show should follow it. And what’s the deal with adding extra characters? No offense to Ayame fans, but I was really miffed when her character was created. Why did they have to show Kouga as such a jerk? He isn’t like that! And he isn’t like that in the manga. What’s the deal with creating characters that could screw up the storyline? And one of the newest ones… the one who fell in love with Sesshoumaru. What, do unpaired pretty boys bug the animators so they have to invent partners for them? I just don’t like that.
Manga
In case you couldn’t tell by reading the above, we like the manga much better than the anime. The storylines are excellently timed out, and unfold in typical Rumiko fashion. You can see exactly what motivates the characters to do what they do, and you cant wait to see how they’re going to react to the next big obstacle in their way. Every character has fully developed motivations, and are realistic as people.
Kikyou’s reactions are less severe than they are in the anime, and she acts the way most people would put in her situation. Yes, she’s bitter about how she died, and she wants to kill Naraku for it. And yes, she’s furious that Inuyasha has replaced her with her reincarnation. So her actions are totally believable in the manga.
Same goes for Kagome! Unlike the anime, she never went through fits of “do I love him or not?” when it came to Inuyasha. Nah, she knew right away she was getting a crush on the boy, but she never lost sight of herself. Inuyasha was never her whole life, and you can see that. Kagome is a tough girl, and does what it takes to get the job done. She attacks Naraku because she wants to take him down, NOT ONLY to protect Inuyasha. She’s not all that upset with the whole Kikyou thing. Like anyone, YES, it bugs her to no end. But like any normal person, she gets over it. Life goes on, you know? And Kagome isn’t the type to mope around forever because something didn’t go the way she wanted in her love life. She’s a very respectable girl, and she’s very strong. She doesn’t always need to be protected because she can hold her own. Overall, the manga is written vastly better than the anime, and the characters are much better developed.
But there are a few things we don’t like about the manga, although they are minor. The drawing style didn’t start so well, but it’s improved greatly. A thing that bugs us sometimes is the fact that the manga can get a little too dark. Its one thing to have dramatic and everything, but it goes a little overboard sometimes. The other thing is transitions. You’ll be on a really gripping storyline with one character, and then all of a sudden you’re with a totally different one. That’s pretty annoying sometimes, since you want to know what happens with the first character. Otherwise, there isn’t much we don’t like about the manga.

Ask Fluffy, also known as Sesshoumaru, advice! He may very well have the solution to every problem...heh..
(Disclaimer: The following advice is not to be taken seriously. Ask Fluffy is meant for amusement and insulting mortals, of course.)
Dear Fluffy,
The prom is coming up, and Im not sure what to wear, could you give me any suggestions?
Dear ignorant mortal,
You dare address me, the magnificent Sesshoumaru, as “Fluffy”! I care not about this mortal gathering of yours, but If you must ask me, you cannot go wrong with a white feather boa. Now do not write me again, or answer to my talons.
Dear Fluffy,
My little sister is so irritating! Shes always taking my things, what should I do?
Dear incompetent mortal,
How did you fools acquire my address? You have a younger sibling, eh? Perhaps if it was a younger brother I might have told you to reclaim what is rightfully yours and then proceed to beat him to death with it slowly, but that is not the case. Not to say that I, Sesshoumaru, hold any affection for little girls…
Dear Fluffy,
There’s this person that is always tagging along with me, but he’s really annoying. How can I ask this person to get away from me nicely?
Dear pathetic mortal,
I cannot understand why humans insist on kindness. Use this person to your personal advantage, I say. Why should you have to do diminutive tasks, when someone else is there to wait at your every command? Besides, you can always kill the person if he becomes a nuisance.
Dear Fluffy, Why is Jaken a frog? :D
-From, Kaoru Suu
Dear inferior mortal,
If he was anything other than a repulsive toad, he would make I, the beautiful Sesshoumaru look less superior!! >0!
Dear Fluffy, Why don’t you have ears like Inu-Yasha?
-From, Malch :D
Dear foolish mortal,
I already have a tail that has won me this annoying nickname, I consider myself lucky that I do not have those embarrassing ears of my brother’s. >\ Why he has them, you ask? It’s obviously a side-effect of having a mortal mother! All you humans look ridiculous! v_v;.
O Superior Master,
Speaking from a completely relative standpoint, do you believe that the frailty of the human psyche is in direct correlation to their strong emotional attachments which produce seemingly coherent and structured foundations of truth, honesty and wisdom with respect to their immediate peers and biological kin, which may appear solid and impervious to outside stimuli on the surface, but in fact are merely outward manifestations of an inferior mental capacity and lacking physical prowess, or do you believe that these in fact act in opposition, sending mortal man into an existential quandary of fear, self-loathing and doubt while simultaneously creating an ever-present void of emotional contact, creating a two dimensional mask support and understanding no more consistent with reality than the “science” we, as mere mortals, have taken upon ourselves to invent to explain such actions?
And, um...what’s your favorite colour?
Daniel, your willing slave
Dear Mortal,
Organisms retaining cognizant scruples are forever collectively assembling anemic pretexts for their derisory corporeal dynamism, as a corollary of their substandard, inexorable sentiments.
-_-red.
Dear Fluffy-chan!
Recently Rin-chan met Kohaku-chan. Although it wasn’t for very long and under less than desirable circumstances, they seemed to have gotten along alright(before Naraku turned Kohaku psycho). So if they were older and Kohaku-chan asked Rin-chan on a date would you let her go with him?(this is assuming he’s gotten over his controlled-by-Naraku-and-could-turn-into-a-psycho-any-minute symptom)
Love, Lain
Dear mortal
Date? O_ogowith him?! Bah Rin, no doubt, will have increased in intelligence by the time she chooses a mate. After being near the great Sesshoumaru, it is assured that some of my intellect will rub off onto the child. She will not make the poor decision of going with such an unworthy boythat Koh-whats-his-meaningless-name. >\.

Other possible despairs/fears: That her other comrades would become Naraku's puppets too, that Miroku gets sucked into his own Wind Tunnel, that Miroku really asks someone else to bear his child. Episode 33 [Kikyo, Captured by Naraku]: In this episode, the group also fell under Naraku's Spell of Illusory Death, which causes frightening hallucinations. In this episode, Sango also imagined Kohaku to have killed Inuyasha and Miroku. | |

Below are questions that I get often, and some are just plain bizarre. As usual, email me at .
Episode 167 is the end for now. There are no more episodes (both English & Japanese). They stopped it at #167 as the anime has caught up with the manga. There are talks that there might be a second series, as the manga is still running, but it's still unconfirmed on the production side. Even if there's a second series, it'll take at least a year for them to produce. So I guess fans like us have to be patient... For now, you might want to read the comic or catch the movies:
This is a tricky question, and I hope to answer as well as I can: For every country that Inuyasha is exported to, the distributor will hire translators to do translate the scripts, and voice-actors to dub over, so that more people can understand the anime. Hence, if you're living outside Japan, you can usually get 'dual-soundtrack', which is one in Japanese, and one in the native language of your country. Different countries would have their own set of voice actors and actresses. My version of Inuyasha anime is Japanese & Chinese DUBBED, and English SUBBED, which means it has two soundtracks, one in the original Japanese language, and the other in Chinese, and with English subtitles. Since I live in a different country from yours, the translated English scripts are different.
While I do like to get emails about feedback for this site, it will be more constructive if you provide some suggestions as to what you'd like to see added. This website is titled InuSEC (Inuyasha Scripts and Episode Capsules). To that end, I believe this site contains all the information and observations that I can find on each episode. A lot of interesting contributions come from visitors like yourself, and I'm greatly thankful for them. Any other things about the anime which are not episode-specific are found in the 'Extras' sections. Being 'Extras', they are added in my free time, such as songs, articles and wallpaper. Anything that you feel should be added, you are free to email me. But please, do give a suggestion.
Better grammar and spelling would be appreciated, too.

As everyone knows, Sesshoumaru is Inuyasha’s older half-brother. He is a full demon and proud of it! I can really relate to this particular baddie. He doesn’t exactly loathe humans, but they are far beneath him. I can completely understand! Humans are inferior beings that are nothing more than annoyances. They aren’t worth his time. So little brother Inuyasha is also far beneath him. Inuyasha is half human, after all. But really, why does Sesshoumaru hate Inuyasha so? Yes, its because he’s totally unsophisticated and brings shame to their father. That’s definitely part of it. But there’s more to it than that. You have to remember that Sesshoumaru absolutely idolized is father. He couldn’t find fault with the demon. And yet, his great father fell for a human woman, and Inuyasha is the result of that. Inuyasha represents a “weakness” in their father, and Sesshoumaru cannot STAND that. It doesn’t help that Inuyasha doesn’t accept this, and doesn’t really listen to Sesshoumaru’s rantings about how he’s inferior.
Despite this hatred, Sesshoumaru absolutely will NOT kill Inuyasha. Oh, he says he will, and fights with him like he’s going to. He’ll mortally wound the hanyou and laugh about it. But when it comes down to it, Sesshoumaru has no interest in killing his little brother. After all, they are blood, and Inuyasha is still the son of their great father. Of course it infuriates Sesshoumaru that Inuyasha does not show proper respect for their father, and of course he beats the hanyou for that. This ties into why he was so determined to take Tetsusaiga from Inuyasha in the beginning. Why would their father leave him such a spiffy sword, and give Sesshoumaru a “useless” one? And Inuyasha didn’t even show respect. So Sesshoumaru decided he would set things straight, and take the sword for his own. Of course, he later decides that he’ll let Inuyasha keep it, and gets a sword of his own.
You see what happened there? He decided against killing Inuyasha and just let him keep the dumb sword. It’s kind of like a pouting thing. Think about it. Two normal brothers are fighting over something. The older one realizes he can’t get what he wants easily, and pretends he never cared about it anyway and leaves in a huffy fit. Then he goes out and buys something better than what his little brother has, and goes on his way, feeling much better about the whole thing. That’s what happened with Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru!
They really do act just like normal brothers would. Just throw in the fact that they are demons, and that’s where your differences come from. In fact, neither of them want the other to die. Inuyasha would be perfectly happy if Sesshoumaru never bothered him again. But he doesn’t want the youkai to die. In all their fights, Inuyasha has never tried to fatally wound his brother. Yeah, he took off an arm. Yeah, he’s managed to take his older brother out of commission. But he’s never gone for the kill. That’s actually the reason Totosai let him keep Tetsusaiga. Inuyasha had the opportunity to kill off Sesshoumaru with the wind scar, but he held back. Why? Well, Sesshoumaru is still his older brother, and Inuyasha can’t forget that no matter how much he wants to. Its not like he cares about being accepted or respected by Sesshoumaru. (much). No, he’d be happy if his big brother just left him alone. Ah, but he won’t get that as long as the two have the same goal- to kill Naraku.
But I digress. Sesshoumaru doesn’t want Inuyasha to die, either. When he was first introduced in the manga, Jaken mentioned Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru silenced him immediately. Was it because Sesshoumaru didn’t want to be reminded of the worthless dead brother of his? No. I think it was because Sesshoumaru didn’t like the thought that his worthless half brother had gotten himself killed. By a human, no less. That was definitely a sore spot with him. Of course, when he found out Inuyasha was alive, he had to go and pick on him, like any good older brother would do. Yet during all their fights, Sesshoumaru never tried to actually kill him. Came close an awful lot, but never went the whole way. He doesn’t want Inuyasha to die, because he’s still his brother. Which may be part of what prompts Sesshoumaru to aid Inuyasha and his friends every so often.
My conclusion? The brothers don’t actually hate each other. Sesshoumaru will even go so far as to tease Inuyasha about Kagome. He thinks its kind of fitting that Inuyasha would have the same weakness for humans their father did. In fact, Sesshoumaru wouldn’t bother Inuyasha at all if their interests never conflicted. As for Inuyasha, nah, he doesn’t hate his brother. He just severely dislikes him, and wants him to go away… forever.
